About the Stoneham Savings•Salem Five Charitable Foundation
Stoneham Savings is committed to helping build stronger, more vibrant and prosperous communities and we have established the Stoneham Savings•Salem Five Charitable Foundation which helps support important causes.
The Charitable Foundation was created to ensure that our strategic focus for giving has a lasting impact in the communities we service: Stoneham, Burlington, Malden, North Andover and Tewksbury. Accordingly, our focused support falls within three priority areas of concern: Economic Self-Sufficiency, Workforce Development, and Financial Literacy. We do support many worthwhile organizations throughout our communities that fall outside these areas, giving due consideration to all requests. However, as a mutual savings bank our overall sense of purpose is grounded in helping those in our community make smart decisions about financial challenges and opportunities, maintain quality employment, and ultimately, be able to financially sustain themselves and their families.
About Northeast Arc
Northeast Arc was created in the 1950s by parents of children with disabilities who rejected the assumption that their children should be institutionalized. Now serving over 7,000 people annually in more than 150 Massachusetts cities and towns, Northeast Arc is dedicated to helping people with disabilities become full participants in the community, choosing for themselves how to live, learn, work, socialize and play. The agency does this through a variety of programs, including Autism Services, Day Habilitation, Deaf Services, Early Intervention, Employment Services, Family Support, Personal Care Assistance, Recreation, Residential and Transition. The agency also runs the ArcWorks Community Art Center on Foster Street in Peabody. Northeast Arc is the largest Arc in the state of Massachusetts and the 4th largest Arc in the country.

Stoneham Savings Bank, after seeing a plea in the local paper for donations, contacted the SHS 1982 Beautification Fund and committed a donation in the amount necessary for the fund to reach its goal. Chris Oneschuk, President, SHS 1982 Beautification Fund stated, "Stoneham Savings Bank genuinely takes the time to get involved in the Stoneham community, and they don't hesitate to contribute to worthy causes whenever they can. They understand the pulse of the community and can see clearly where they can make a difference. We are now able to move forward with the purchase and installation of the new Stoneham High School sign! The sign will be constructed of a composite material that will not deteriorate and will be accented with granite posts. The new sign should be in place before winter arrives!"
